How we wash
Cold water, plant-based soap, washed by hand
This is a method, not a badge. Hot water shrinks wool and loosens dye. Machine scrubbing wears the pile down. So we do neither.

Inspect and dust
We look at the weave, the dyes and the foundation, note any weak fringe or old repairs, then dry-dust the rug to remove sand and grit. Dry soil has to leave before water goes in.

Cold-water hand wash with plant-based soap
The rug is laid flat and washed by hand with cold water and plant-based soap. Cold water keeps wool from shrinking and keeps natural dyes from bleeding into the ivory ground.
- 03
Controlled flat drying
Rugs dry flat in moving air, not folded and not in a hot room. In this humidity, drying is the step that decides whether mildew ever gets a foothold.
- 04
Grooming and final inspection
Pile is groomed in the direction of the weave, fringe is combed straight, and we walk the whole rug once more before it goes back in the van.
